Highlighting A Stamped Image from Best Day Stamp Set and the Swiping Technique

Our New Basics 3D Embossing Folder Makes Pretty Backgrounds!

I had this stamped image layer sitting on my counter because I was working on a project and used the wrong colors. I set it aside. I also had this gorgeous layer that I had used during a class with the Ink Swiping Technique on Watercolor Paper. Do you have a stash of partially started pieces like that? I decided to use them both and added a little bit of color to the image by coloring tone-on-tone with a Stampin’ Blends Marker.

Notice how I turned a simple layer into a gorgeous card by adding colored layerd, a watercolor paper layer, an embossed layer and some bling & ribbon? Here’s my card recipe:

• Card Base: Thick Basic White Cardstock 11″ x 4-1/4″. Score and fold at 5-1/2″.
• Layer #2: Basic White Cardstock 5-1/4″ x 4″. Emboss with the Basics 3D Embossing Folder and glue to card base.
• Layer #3: Fluid 100 Watercolor Paper 4-1/2″ x 3-1/4″. Use 3 ink pads to swipe the pads across in various areas of the Watercolor Paper. This is achieved by opening the ink pads and turning them with the pad facing downwards and swiping the color on. I used Daffodil Delight, Pool Party and Petal Pink. Stamp some confetti images from the Best Day stamp set with Pool Party Ink. Glue to card front, centered.
• Layer #4: Cut Petal Pink Cardstock with the Deckled Rectangle Dies that measures 3-1/2″ x 2-1/4″. Glue to card front at an angle over the watercolor paper with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
• Layer #5: Stamp the birthday cake image from the Best Day stamp set on Pool Party Cardstock with Tuxedo Black Memento Ink. Use the light Pool Party Stampin’ Blends Marker to color different parts of the image, leaving most of it uncolored. Cut with the Deckled Rectangle Dies that measures 3-1/2″ x 2-1/4″. Glue to card front adding Stampin’ Dimensionals at the top left corner only and flat elsewhere.
• Bow: Create a triple bow with the Sheer Ribbon and glue to the bottom right corner of the Pool Party layer with Mini Glue Dots.
• Bling: Add Champagne Basic Jewels to the watercolor layer.
