You Made My Day With Daisies & Beautiful Designer Paper!
I am spending three days with my Mom for Mother’s Day. I arrived yesterday and this morning, we are traveling to New Brunswick, Canada. Both of my parents were born in Canada and moved to the USA before I was born. I am the oldest of their four children. We are so lucky that the Canadian border is only about 10 minutes away. And this is also the case where I live as well.
So why are we traveling to Canada? First a little history. When my Mom was 18 and the 2nd oldest child, she lost her Mom to a brain aneurism. This aneurism left behind 10 children without a mom, with the youngest being only 5 months old. My Uncle Arthur who was the youngest at the time, was too young to remember his Mom. It breaks my heart when children lose their Mom at such a young age. There are three sisters in the family and they had to bring up the littles.
For Mother’s Day today, the whole family is celebrating 65 years without their Mom. We are going to a special mass in the family’s hometown in my Grandmom’s honor and all meeting for lunch afterwards. Once we arrive back to my Mom’s home, my daughter Jessica and my grandgirls will join us for supper since they live about 20 minutes away. It will be a busy day but so looking forward to all of the happenings!
Happy Mother’s Day! I will be returning home tomorrow.
The sentiment on my card today is so appropriate to first, honor my Mom. You Made My Day when you became my Mom and next, You Made My Day Jessica, when you made me a Mom. Jessica is my oldest of two. I cased the card from our Annual Catalog using the Countryside Corners Bundle and Countryside Inn Designer Paper. I also added some pretty flowers using the Cheerful Daisies Bundle. You can see a photo of the card that I cased on page 42 of the catalog:
I changed up some of the patterns from the designer paper and I also changed up the stamp set because that’s what casing is all about. Here are the measurements:
- Card Base: Night Of Navy Cardstock 8-1/2″ x 5-1/2″. Score and fold at 4-1/4″.
- Layer 2: Countryside Inn Designer Paper 5-1/4″ x 4″. Stamp the cluster of flowers image on the designer paper with Night Of Navy Ink across the center. Glue to card front.
- Layer 3: Countryside Inn Designer Paper 4-1/2″ x 3/4″. Trim both ends at a angle and glue to the center of the designer paper horizontally.
- Layer 4: Stamp the image from the Countryside Corners stamp set on Basic White Cardstock with Crumb Cake Ink. Cut with the die that measures 2-7/8″ long. Glue in the center of the designer paper strip with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
- Layer 5: Stamp the sentiment on Boho Blue Designer Paper with Night Of Navy Ink. Cut close to the wording and trim both ends into a banner shape. Glue with Mini Dimensionals.
- Flowers and leaves: Stamp (4) flowers from the Cheerful Daisies stamp set and (4) leaves with Boho Blue and Crumb Cake Inks. Cut with the dies and glue tucked in place.

Thanks for sharing your story. I’m glad you were able to go and spend the time with your family and that it’s not too far to go for that. Your cards are beautiful and thanks for sharing them, too.
