For The Guys Theme!
Welcome to our Saturday Blog Hop at Create With Connie & Mary! I’ve had a lot of fun the past three Saturdays which includes this week. We created for the kids, for the ladies and today is for the guys.
We are approaching the month of September which means the start of moose hunting in the state of Maine. Here’s a little history on Maine’s moose hunting season. From September to October, there are four weeks of the hunting season set aside and not just anyone can participate. You have to go through a permit application process and a certain number of names are picked. Not only is your name picked, you are also assigned a zone that you can hunt in. We have lots of moose in our state and this is how the state controls the overpopulation of our moose. (FYI: I don’t like moose meat).
So for my guy card today, I opted to use a moose image from the Festive & Fun stamp set from our upcoming Mini Catalog which starts in September.
I colored the images with Watercolor Pencils and a Blender Pen. Here’s what I used and the steps to creating my card today:
Stampin’ Up! Products Used:
- Stamps: Festive & Fun
- Inks: StazOn Jet Black, VersaMark
- Cardstock: Thick Basic White, Basic White, Night Of Navy, Soft Sea Foam
- Designer Paper: Beary Christmas
- Tools & Accessories: Deckled Circles Dies, Bough Punch, Watercolor Pencils, Blender Pens, Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals, Stampin’ Dimensionals, Paper Snips, Tear & Tape, Basics Embossing Powders, Heat Tool
Card Recipe:
- Card Base: Thick Basic White 8-1/2″ x 5-1/2″. Score and fold at 4-1/4″.
- Layer 2: Beary Christmas Designer Paper 5-1/2″ x 2″. Glue to card front about 1/2″ from the bottom.
- Layer 3: Beary Christmas Designer Paper 4″ x 3-1/4″. Glue to the center of the card base.
- Ribbon: Glue a strip of ribbon about 1/4″ from the bottom of layer 3 with Tear & Tape.
- Layer 4: Basic White Cardstock cut with the 2-3/4″ Deckled Circles Dies. Stamp the moose image with Night Of Navy Ink and color with Watercolor Pencils and a Blender Pen. Glue to card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
- Layer 5: Stamp the sentiment on Night Of Navy Cardstock with VersaMark Ink and sprinkle with white embossing powder. Use the Heat Tool to melt the powder. Cut with the 1-3/4″ Deckled Circles Dies. Glue to card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals and flat on the right side.
- Boughs: Use the bough punch to cut one large branch with Soft Sea Foam Cardstock and the small branch with Basic White Cardstock. Glue tucked under the large circle on the left.
- Birds: Stamp (2) bird images with Night Of Navy Ink. Color with Watercolor Pencils and a Blender Pen. Hand-cut with Paper Snips and glue to white layer using Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals.
